This module is a good opportunity to get students from Davea and from other high schools in DuPage county to co-investigate the effects of air pollution as a result of the vehicle emissions. The activities are designed in such a way so that students in different settings attack the problem from the point of view that interests them: students at Davea perform the vehicle emissions tests, enter data in a database via the web and write technical reports, whereas other high school students analyze the data. These activities are intended to integrate several subject areas (science, mathematics, art, English, history, and social studies). The objective of this module is for all students at different settings to come away with a basic understanding of some factors that cause air pollution, the effects on the life of the community that they live (including humans, plants, and animals), and ways to eliminate pollution problems.
