Materials List for the M2T2 Modules
Materials listed are for the yellow binder. Blue binder materials are listed with each of the units.
The minimal set of materials should include the following items. One for each participant unless otherwise noted.
- 1" cubes (50-100/per participant)
- Scissors
- Compass (or Mira)
- Transparent tape
- Masking tape
- Angle ruler or protractor
- Tape measure (metric and standard)
- Dice (two per participant). Two sets of polyhedral die are optimal.
- Chips or checkers, or small block (10 per participant)
- Graph paper
- Color square (~50 per particpant)
- Colored markers
- Colored pencils
- Various colors of card stock paper
- Grid paper (six dots per square inch)
- Newsprint
- Cereal boxes to cut into nets (one per participant is optimal, but groups could share)
- Reference books of various kinds: e.g., encyclopaedias, almanacs, atlases, the Book of Lists, magazines (issues of NCTM magazines especially), etc.
- Paper pie plates
- M&Ms candies or Skittles candies (one pack per participant)
- Assorted containers; some with capacity of exactly one gallon and others of various sizes
- Filler material for checking capacity. Some suggestions: rice, rock salt, dry sand, small beans or lentils (more than one gallon's worth).
- 3 pieces of 22"x28" poster board for each participant
- A graphing calculator (Instructions in the binder were made with the TI-73 in mind).
- A computer with Internet access and Java-enabled brower
- Geometer's Sketchpad, Cabri, or other computer geometry software (materials in the binder are written with Sketchpad in mind)
- Geostrips
- Plastic volume set
- Spreadsheet software like Excel or MS Works. The instructions in the binder were made with Microsoft Excel in mind.
