Module Outline

Problem Statement

(For Davea students) As you go through the various hands-on activities, think about the following questions: What makes an airplane fly? How does aircraft design affect an airplane's performance in the air? What is the impact on the airplane's flight if parts of the engine begin to malfunction?

Module Structure:

Day 1: Introduction to this module

Day 2-3: Bernoulli's Principle
Conduct various experiments to investigate the relationship between pressure and velocity and describe its effects on aircraft performance.

Day 4-5: Aerodynamics Forces--What makes an airplane fly
Conduct research and hands-on experiments to explore the four forces of flight: lift, gravity, thrust, and drag. Explore how aircraft design affects an airplane's performance in the air.
