In this tutorial you will learn how to make a database that makes quality use of multiple layouts. FileMaker Pro defines a layout as a way to view selected fields in your database file. You can design more than one layout for a file. You will learn the most about layouts through the template once you already know about creating databases. If you have little experience using FileMaker Pro or creating databases in general I suggest starting by creating a simple database in FileMaker Pro. An addess book serves as a good project for learning FileMaker Pro.
I have created a database that you can download and view from your own computer. The database is a grade book that keeps track of student information, grades, tests, and creates labels and envelopes. Each feature mentioned is a separate layout in the database. First, open the database named "template.FP3" on this diskette.
If you have opened the database then you are ready to learn. Hopefully, you have seen or created your own database in FileMaker Pro by now so this should not be too unfamiliar.
