Teacher/Volunteer Survey of Students in After School Program

Teachers/volunteers for Spring 2006 were asked to respond "yes" or "no" to each of the following about each student:

  • Has a positive attitude toward school.
  • Has a positive attitude toward the after school program.
  • Improved in coming to after school program ready/prepared to learn.
  • Improved in behaving attentive.
  • Improved in getting along well with other students.

Each student is assigned a score of 1 for yes, and 0 for no for each of the five aspects of attitude.

The chart below shows the proportion of Yes scores for Fall 2005 and Spring 2006.

The data suggest a decline from Fall 2005 to Spring 2006 in teacher ratings of student attitudes.

(Note: A student obtaining a positive disposition score of 5 received yes ratings from teacher on all five categories.)

The chart below summarizes the positive disposition scores for the students in Fall 2005 and Spring 2006. The graph documents the relatively lower scores assigned to students in Spring.

Data are not available for subject on which students spent most time in after school program.
