Remember to discuss lenth, width and height in your description of what is happening.
For your shortcut use letters to represent the numbers. Say there are l cubes in a row, w rows, and h layers.
Fill in the table with the data you collected from the previous exercises. Then describe a shortcut for finding the number of cubes.
The term "shortcut" on the worksheet is used in place of the more traditional term formula.
Some helpful questions for finding a shortcut:
- How many inch cubes are in each layer?
- How do you find this number?
- How many layers are there?
- What would you do with these numbers to find the number of cubes?
