Attitudes toward school/after school programs

The students were asked to complete a survey about their attitudes toward school and the after school program.

A total of 23 students took the Spring 2007 survey. (In Fall 2006, 102 students took they survey.)

Students were asked to respond "yes" or "no" to each of the following:

  • I look forward to tutoring/after school program.
  • My parents talk to me about the after school program.
  • I feel safe and comfortable during the after school program.
  • The after school program helps me do better in school.
  • The after school staff encourages me to do well in school.

As the graph below shows, there was somewhat of a decline in positive responses about each of the five aspects of the after school program from Fall 2006 to Spring 2007.

The students were asked in what school subject they were doing BEST during the 2006-07 school year. The chart below indicates that, by far, most students felt they were doing best in mathematics.

The students were then asked in what school subject they most needed help. The chart below indicates that most students felt they needed help in English/reading.
