Martingale Applet

The Concept:

A famous system of betting on the roullette or any game of chance is to double your bet every time you lose, and every time you win to start with your initial bet. Try this system out with our Martingale Applet and determine for yourself if it's a good plan to follow.

Change the rules of the game and your betting strategy and study the results. What settings lead to a more favorable outcome? Which betting strategy is better? Observe the graph to determine what occured during the run.

Instructions:

Specify the settings for a game and Run Simulation. Observe the graph to see your progress.

Controls:

Betting - choose to bet increasingly more money or a constant amount every time.

Rules - specify the odds of winning, the payoff and the maximum allowed bet.

Simulation - choose when the game will end: when you have less money than your lower limit, higher limit, or when a number of bets has been played out.

Money - choose how much money you have to start the game with.

Run Simulation - runs the simulation to the end, either until the specified simulation conditions or the default conditions: Lower Limit = 0, Upper Limit = 10000, Maximum Bets = 10000.
The simulation will not run when any of the settings are specified incorrectly.
Please be patient, as long games will take some time to be analyzed and displayed.

Reset - resets the settings to their default values.
