Is Michael Jordan statistically the best scorer on the Bulls?
What an interesting question. It is usually taken for granted that Jordan is the Bulls best scorer. The mathematical question that is being asked is, are the Bulls final point totals random or is there another factor such as Michael Jordan being totally awesome that accounts for the difference in average points per game?
You can use your knowledge of the chi-square statistic to help you answer that question. Go to the
Bulls stats and write down the six highest Bulls players and their average points per game.
Now make a table to find out the chi-square, using the average of the six players points per game as the expected value. Got it? Compare it to dice roll random chi-square table to see if it is significant. Why can you do that? Compare your results with the
