Electrons carry a negative charge and protons carry a positive charge. It is well known now that opposite charges attract and like charges repel. You don’t believe me? Take a look at this demonstration.
If you are still not sure, try this activity. It is possible to show electrical attraction with a plastic comb and a ping pong ball. Charge the comb up by rubbing it on fur, wool, or hair. Bring the comb near the ball. What happens and why? You can also attract other things with your charged comb. With it charged up, place the comb near a stream of water. The stream is suddenly bent towards the comb. Why?
Since we are going to talk about Ohm’s law, which has something to do with electricity, we need to know what generates electricity. Scientists have found out that moving electrons generate electricity. This generation of electricity creates a current or sometimes better known as a flow of electrons. For instance, in the following diagram, you can see the flow of electrons within a wire.
So now we can say that current is a flow of electrons. Still what about Ohm’s law?
