2012 CS4HS Computer Science Workshop for Teachers - June 17-19th
Supported by Google and the University of Illinois, this workshop is aimed at teachers who are looking for exciting content for including beginning programming at the high-school or middle-school level.
Registration is now open. Join us as we explore the Etoys programming language as a platform for attracting students into the field of computing.

CCNet May Topics - University of Illinois Energy System
On Thursday, May 17th, Morgan Johnston, F & S Sustainability Coordinator, will be presenting on the campus energy system at the CCNet (Champaign County Sustainability Network) monthly meeting. Other presenters that day will include Dennis Schmidt, Champaign Public Works Director, who will be discussing thestormwater utility fee, and Joe Hooker, Assistant City Attorney for the City of Champaign, who will present on the Clinton landfill project.

2012 Smart Grid Customer Education Symposium
San Diego Gas & Electric is hosting the 2012 Smart Grid Customer Education Symposium in the Energy Innovation Center on May 16, 2012.
TCIPG Education's Jana Sebestik, along with Bruce Hamilton, the President of Smart Grid Networks, Inc., will be speaking on the panel: From Customer Education to Customer Engagement: Leveraging Technology to Improve the Two-way Conversation.
The symposium will be connecting leaders and stakeholders in the smart grid communications field and will focus on how to engage customers.

Michele Crockett, PhD, will discuss the ways in which people think about formative assessment, what it may look like in practice, what it means for promoting high quality mathematics teaching and learning, and how it fits into current US assessment policy.

Spring 2012 Friday Lunch Series - Etoys/Montana Collaboration
In this informal talk, Morten Lundsgaard and Avigail Snir will talk about their collaboration with the University of Montana professor Lisa Blank on incorporating Etoys as a modeling tool in a science methods class for K-8 pre-service teachers.
