Diastolic Blood Pressure of Male Smokers vs Non-smokers
By Paul R & Steve G

The median (or 50th
percentile) diastolic bp for non smokers is clearly lower than the median of
smokers.
Here is a two sample T-Test for each
of the groups:
Two sample T for Male Non-smoker BP vs
Male Smoker BP
N Mean StDev
SE Mean
Male Non 9 71.1 16.2 5.4
Male Smo 12 77.1 16.2 4.7
95% CI for mu Male Non - mu Male Smo:
( -21.1, 9.1)
T-Test mu Male Non = mu Male Smo (vs
not =): T = -0.83 P = 0.42 DF = 17
The
high p-value, .42, allows us to conclude that there is not significant
difference between the diastolic blood pressures of the two groups.
